Ha Long Bay in one long day is a real test of stamina. The upside is you still get limestone-cave highlights and big views without booking an overnight, all with round-trip pickup from Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

I like two things most: the fresh seafood lunch served on board (with a vegetarian option), and the way the day is paced around a set of major stops like Sung Sot Cave and Ti Top Island. The main drawback is the trade-off you make for one day: the bus ride can feel like a slow warm-up to the scenery.
